Meet our TrainersWe'd like to introduce you to our team of trainers at the Stables at Frederica. Board your horse or trailer in. Chelsie Smith Chelsie has shown in multiple divisions including Five-Gaited, Three-Gaited, Park, Pleasure, and Equitation. At age 13 she began teaching lessons at a local barn and helped organize and run riding camps with her trainer at the time. Upon graduating high school she then went to William Woods University where she graduated in 2008 with a B.S. in Equestrian Science and a minor in Psychology. While at William Woods Chelsie had the pleasure of learning new disciplines, (Hunt Seat and Western) under the instruction of Linda McClaren and Jennie Petterson, as well as concentrating on Saddle Seat with Gayle Lampe. During her time at William Woods Chelsie trained Certainly A Star (a William Woods owned horse) to unanimous victories at the American Royal horse show in ’07. She has worked throughout her career in several top barns along the east coast (doing training as well as instruction), gaining experience in training the young horse to ride, drive, and gait ,as well as maintaining the older show horse. chelsie@thestablesatfrederica.com Lindsay Maxwell Lindsay Maxwell has been riding and showing in the Hunter Jumper discipline for 18 years, training under Brad Spragg out of Atlanta, Ga. Lindsay owned and showed top hunters throughout her career, both her own and those of other people. She has competed multiple times at national hunter jumper horse shows with top finishes at both Devon Horse Show and Country Fair and the Pennsylvania National Horse Show. She also qualified for and competed in national equitation finals throughout her junior career including the USEF Medal Finals. Lindsay was a member and senior captain of the equestrian team while she attended Sewanee :: The University of the South before graduating in May 2011. She enjoyed a very successful four years, earning the Regional Champion three times and Zone Champion title twice in her division, Open Equitation. She also qualified for the prestigious Cacchione Cup three times in her four years and competed at the IHSA National Horse Show with top finishes. Lindsay competed in the Small and Large Junior Hunters and was nationally ranked on multiple occasions. Throughout high school she spent her summers working at the Atlanta Hunt Club in Atlanta, Ga training and travelling to horse shows throughout the country. Her passion for children and teaching coupled with her love for riding and horses make her an effective and fun trainer.
Karl Hirschhorn
Karl comes from a background of owning, showing Friesian horses and managing horses in many different areas of the United States. Karl has offered the coastal communities of Georgia the opportunity to enjoy the facilities and to grow a passion for horses.
