2013 Events:

10/19/13 ~ IALHA National Show ~ Friesian Horse Exhibtion

Member Twila Godinez has presented to the SCFHA Board of Directors, an opportunity for SCFHA members to create and take part in an exhibition of Friesian horses at the IALHA National Show being held in Fort Worth TX this coming Fall.
Possible SCFHA participation is still in the planning stages. We would need a minimum of 6 horses. The idea would be to showcase the Friesian as a versatile breed. Driving, show driving, in-hand, dressage, costume, etc are some of the talents that would make for an entertaining exhibition.
We also have a need for a SCFHA member to coordinate the exhibition.
Tentative date would be Saturday evening October 19 2013. Will Rogers Memorial Center, Watts Arena. In the past the Saturday night exhibition at the IAHLA has been a sold out event. Watts arena has a seating capacity of 2900.

03/08&09/13 ~ Julio Mendoza Clinic ~ Julio Mendoza's Texas clinic is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, March 8th and 9th. SCFHA is honored & excited to host this clinic.
Open to all breeds of horses.
Location is Saddlebrook Equestrian Center in Bartonville, TX (near Denton, TX).Limited number of 45 min. lessons available.Auditors Welcomed ~ $ 25 for one day or $45 for both days

 03/16/2013 ~ Cowtown Goes Green ~ On March 16th, Stockyards Station will host Cowtown Goes Green, the city’s largest and most family friendly St. Patrick’s Day celebration. The event is from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District.  Click here for more info on the event and parade.

 10/27/2012 ~ Harvest Festival at Reata Rehabilitation Center. Saturday from 1:00 - 7:00. They will have a 2 hour Bomb proof Horsemanship demo with a rescue horse, a Western Dressage on a mule demo, a Mustang traning demo, our special riders showing what they can do on their horses, and so much more. SCFHA will be there with their Friesians and riders/handlers in costume. Come participate and help out a good cause.

 11/16-18/2012 ~ Texas Feathered Horse Classic. This will be the 1st Annual Texas Feathered Horse Classic and we are very excited. It will be held at the Bell County Expo Center 301 E Loop 121, Belton, TX. There will be classes for everyone and it would be the perfect opportunity to get your Friesians out and have some fun. to be held in Katy, TX at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center. Click her for a TASHA flyer. Classes will include Driving, Saddleseat, and Hunter. 04/14/2012 ~ Friesian Play Day and Clinic to be held in Mount Vernon at Douwe Plantinga's farm from 10:00-4:00. Come and bring your Friesian horse and some friends for a fun day of information, riding and driving. Lunch will be provided. Douwe Plantinga will speak on how to prepare your horse for the keuring. Denise Hinder will be sharing how she feeds the Friesian for endurance, Julee Kula will be giving suggestions on how to prepare your horse for a parade and Denise and Douwe will deminstrat how to tack up the driving horse.  03/22-24/2012 ~ Pin Oak Charity Horse Show. During the Friday night performance at the Pin Oak Charity Horse Show the Friesian Horse will be introduced and spotlighted with a short exsposition. Members of SCFHA and their Friesians will be riding, driving, showing in hand and in costume. The breed is being inroduced to the Pin Oak Charity Horse Show in hopes of adding Friesian classes to the show in the future. Hopefully all members can make it to this important meeting. This is the time for us to review our Chapters past year and discuss our visions for the coming year. 06-15-2011 ~ Weatherford Parade. The parade is at 5 pm June 15 and signals the opening of Frontier Days in Weatherford and the rodeo. This parade is informal in that you do not apply, just show up. The parade organizes and leaves from the 9th Grade Center on South Main St. (Highway 51, north of Interstate 20) and goes about 2 miles to Cherry Park. If you are interested please contact Charlie and Toni Davis at 903-880-2001. They are planning on bringing their Friesians to the parade and would love some company. Let's give Weatherford a treat and show them the beauty and majesty of the Friesian Horse.

07-04-2011 ~ Arlington 4th of July Parade.

SCFHA does it again. At the Arlington 4th of July Parade, which had 3000 participants and 50,000 spectators won 1st prize. SCFHA can be seen on the Arlington 4th of July Association website in the Photo Gallery, on the Star Telegram Photo Gallery picture #8, and AISD Online Broadcast. Go to Entries, click on 1-25 and we are around 31:30. It was an awesome parade and we had a blast representing and showing off our Friesians. They were a big hit. We actually got applause at every turn. Thank you to all that participated and we look forward to having more of our member join us in the future. Parade was broadcasted on AISD-TV Channel 98 on Time-Warner Cable and on the web at http://www.aisd.net/aisdtv/

09-23-2011 ~ The 2011 Annual Texas Inspection hosted by SCFHA was a huge success. There were many spectators and lots of wonderful vendors with awesome things to purchase. 10-15-2011 ~ Tyler Parade. Join Toni and Charlie Davis to ride in the Tyler parade and represent the Friesian horse and South Central Friesian Horse Association. The more Friesians we have the better. People hoot and haller at them. They are a big hit no matter where we take them. For details click here. 10-15-2011 ~ Horse Expo in Wichita Falls Texas Oct 15 -16.
Each person gets arena time to display their breed , In hand, at liberty, riding or driving. You can bring the music that you want to play during your arena time.
This is a very relaxed setting with no pressure just fun show casing the breed. You can even dress up in special attire and have your own theme . We will be supporting the SCFHA and FHANA . 10-22-2011 ~ Kaufman Scarecrow Festival and Parade. Come and join in the fun at the Kaufman Scarecrow Parade. Parade starts at 9:00 am, line up at 8:00 am at the Kaufaman High School. 10-29-2011 ~SFHA Halloween Costume Party for Horse and Rider. This year we will be joining Reata Rehab at thier annual benefit fundraiser. SCFHA will be joining in the Harvest Parade in costume and the horse games. Come and join us to help raise money for this incredible orginization. 11-11-2011 ~ Dallas Veterians Day Parade. In 2011 the Dallas Veterans Day parade will be in downtown Dallas. It will be on Friday, November 11th, with massing of the colors and the 11th hour (11:00 AM) ceremony in front of City Hall. The parade will commence following the official ceremony (approximately 1 hour). The theme for this years parade is "Remembering Pearl Harbor".  Congratulations to Charlie and Toni Davis for winning second place in the parade. Great job guys!!!! 

11-19 & 20 -2011 ~Sabine Schut-Kery Dressage Clinic~ The clinic will be held at Willow Draw in Weatherford, Texas. It will begain at 8:30 am on Saturday November 19th and Sunday November 20th. The format of the clinic will be individual lessons, and spectators may audit for a fee. SCFHA members audit for free. 

11-25-2011 ~ Parade of Lights. The 29th annual Chesapeake Energy Parade of Lights presented by CHASE in downtown Fort Worth, Texas will be held November 25, 2011. With over 100 highly illuminated entries, 500,000 lights and the brilliant Sundance Square Christmas Tree, the Parade of Lights will kick off the Holiday Season in style.

Don't forget, this year's parade will be broadcast on TXA-21 at 8:00 PM on Friday night, and again on Saturday night.
