Breeders of Top Quality KFPS Registered Friesian HorsesLocated in St. Thomas, just south-west of London, Ontario, Canada, we are a small farm specializing in the breeding and raising of registered Friesian horses with outstanding pedigrees, physical qualities and temperaments. While one of our goals is to help meet the ever growing demand among horse-lovers to own one (or more!) of these beautiful animals, we also simply enjoy spending time with our horses and participating in a variety of activities with them. We are members of both the Ontario Friesian Horse Association (OFHA) and the Friesian Horse Association of North America (FHANA). In addition, Kettle Creek Friesians owner Jack Vanderkooy has been a member of FHANA's board of directors since 2009 and currently serves as treasurer.

This year the Ontario Friesian Horse Association hosted the largest keuring in North America. It was no disappointment for us at Kettle Creek Friesians as we earned great results in both the colt and filly categories. There were 11 entries in the colt division and both Luke KCF (Norbert 444 X Beart 411) and Jakob KCF (Norbert 444 X Beart 411) were two of only three colts to earn a first premie. Jakob KCF went on to become the 2011 colt champion!! Jorina KCF (Reinder 452 X Jasper 366) also received a first premie and became the champion of a huge class of 20 fillies! By the end of the day, Jorina KCF was also awarded the 2011 Youth Champion ribbon, continuing Kettle Creek Friesians' FOUR YEAR hold on that title! We are so proud of all of our foals! We are also very proud of our own 4-year-old Star mare, Willow P, who performed very well in her IBOP dressage test and earned a passing score of 77. We are very grateful to Willow's incredible trainer and rider, Yulia Gafni, for working so hard with Willow (in such a short amount of time!) and bringing out all of the natural ability and potential that Willow possesses. Tonjes 459 was presented on Day 2 of the keuring and did he ever demonstrate why he is an approved breeding stallion!! Tonjes wowed the audience with his huge, up-hill trotting and breathtaking presence. KFPS judge, Fetze Veldstra, stated that he had never seen Tonjes look or perform better! What a thrill it was to see our boy put on such a fantastic performance! Please visit Tonjes' facebook page for more pictures! It was a great year for us and we owe a good deal of our success and enjoyment to some of our great friends (new and old) and family members. A BIG thanks to Sjoerd Meekma, Yulia Gafni, Petra & Leo Verkade, Cally Matherly, Trudy McNeill, Simon Vanderkooy, and Sjaak & Annet De Wit. Congratulations to everyone who earned great results at the 2011 Ontario keuring!

Sad news Feb 16, 2011Just past midnight on the morning of February 12th, 2011 we had to say goodbye to our treasured and beloved friend Casper. Our 2 1/2 year old stallion suffered a devastating bout of colic and even emergency surgery couldn't save him. He was euthanized in the operating room. Casper was a 1st premie colt who claimed both the colt and youth championships at the 2008 keuring. He was also the champion of both his liberty and halter classes at his first show in Ohio last summer. Although not yet 3 years old, he had already grown to be 168 cm. He was exceptionally gentle and intelligent and was also incredibly keen and willing to learn. We are deeply saddened by the loss of this stallion who possessed tremendous potential. He will always be dearly missed. | ![]() |
